What you need to know about the Trump-Russia scandal
More than half of Americans think the president’s Russia-related investigations are a waste of time, according to a new poll.
The new Fox News poll of 1,002 adults conducted Monday through Thursday finds that just 42 percent say they are “feeling fairly confident” that no wrongdoing has been committed in connection with the investigations into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.
And when asked whether the president is right to be concerned about the Russia investigations, only 42 percent said yes.
The president’s investigations into possible ties between Trump campaign officials and the Kremlin have so far yielded little tangible evidence.
But that hasn’t stopped Trump from tweeting about the investigations as though they were an imminent threat.
The survey found that 56 percent of those surveyed say that if the Trump administration does not do more to help the Mueller probe, they will be less likely to vote for him.
Only 34 percent say this.
Among Republicans, 57 percent of respondents said they are confident that no investigation has been properly conducted, compared with 43 percent of independents and 37 percent of Democrats.
Among voters overall, 63 percent said that they are not worried about the investigation and 37 say they don’t think they have enough information to support a conviction.
Only 26 percent said they think there is enough information.
About 40 percent of Republicans and 41 percent of Independents say that the investigations are not very important.
About 26 percent of Trump voters and 16 percent of Democratic voters say the probes are very important to them, according in the poll.
